Otama Beach House

Sculptural Living at Otama Beach – DNA House

This award-winning project features:

  • American Oak – Prime Grade Solid Timber Flooring
  • 172mm wide planks
  • Finished with natural waterborne polyurethane

Designed by Ken Crosson of Crosson Architects, DNA House is a true masterpiece that harmonises architecture with its natural surroundings. Nestled above the pristine sands of Otama Beach, this coastal retreat blends strength and artistry in equal measure.

From the moment you arrive, the home's blackened steel façade and intricate perforated metal screens make a striking impression. These elements protect the home while delicately framing unparalleled coastal views, allowing filtered light to pour in. Inside, the natural warmth of American Oak flooring, walls, and ceilings wraps the space, creating a seamless connection to the landscape beyond.

The home's layout mirrors nature, with gentle ramps and steps leading you through shared spaces that spill out onto expansive decks. The timber kitchen and bespoke staircase celebrate craftsmanship, while a hatch above opens the home to the stars, connecting the indoors to the natural beauty surrounding it.

A sculptural work of art in itself, DNA House is timeless and innovative, offering a sanctuary that feels both robust and serene—a place to truly embrace the beauty of Otama Beach.
